I took some friends to the cabin for the holiday weekend and what a beautiful weekend it was to be on the lake! My friends Tiffany and MaryAlice and I drove to my cabin on Saturday afternoon and Kendra joined us on Sunday. I took Tiff and MA out on the jetski to see the lake and MaryAlice, being from Texas, thought it was great. She'd been on a jetski before but still laughed every time we hit any bump of a wave.
On Sunday we headed to the water early and my little brother took us skiing and wakeboarding. Since my brother wanted to wakeboard as well that left me to drive the boat for him. I can drive the boat for waterskiing just fine, but wakeboarding... well, I don't think he'll ask me to drive for him again. We almost got MA up on the wakeboard, and she did a great job trying. Later we taught her to waterski and she did that like a pro. I was really impressed; it only took her 2 tries to get up, and a 3rd to stay up.
Sunday afternoon we headed to the sand bar in the boat and ate our lunch in the beautiful sunshine. I didn't think I had gotten too much sun until I got home last night and saw my bright red face in the mirror. However, that's the only part of me that colored at all.
I finally got to pick some cucumbers from my garden up there! There's a few more to be picked but they were still a bit too pickle-like to be picked. I think I'll have cucumbers for lunch today.
Yesterday afternoon as we drove away we said good bye to the lake and summer. What a weird thing... to know the exact moment when a season ends. I felt it, too. Last night one of the moms of 3 of my piano students pointed out a tree that had already turned red. Not a green leaf left on the tree. September just began!
Here are some pictures from the weekend!

MaryAlice and I before our jetski ride. She wanted to try out different settings on her camera. I bet you can't guess what she tried to do here!

Tiff and I fell asleep in the sun on Saturday afternoon and weren't ready to go up when the sun went down behind the trees so we just put our towels OVER us instead.

MaryAlice after a few attempts at wakeboarding.

I was trying to teach MaryAlice how to waterski but she wouldn't sit down in the water. I think it seriously took longer for her to sit down than it did for her to actually get up on waterskis.

Kendra, MA and I on the jetski. MA didn't want to drive much, she just wanted "to be passenger."
