a-I have nothing new to write about
b-So much has happened I haven't had time to post
c-I haven't had internet access
d-none of the above
well, it just so happens that choice "b" would be correct. So here's my warning:
THIS IS GOING TO BE A LOONG POST
I'll start with the basic timeline:
Tuesday afternoon I was in crew manager training listening to Stephanie play the piano when suddenly some stomach pains hit. I left the room, Stephanie came and sat by me, we were approached by a creepy man who wanted to give me oxygen, we stood up to go back to the room, I screamed that I thought I had just had a baby, then sat back down. Stephanie got the car and drove me down to our room where I hung out for a few hours waiting for it to go away. By about 9:00 pm-ish (?) they were only getting worse so my friends Aaron and Renee took me to the ER. They thought at first that it was appendicits but decided it probably wasn't after the CT scan where they couldn't find my appendix. They admitted me and kept me overnight.
Wednesday morning I woke up in even more pain and by now it had creeped up under my rib cage and it hurt a lot to breath. They did an ultrasound and found 5 cm ovarian cyst along with some fluid in my abdominal cavity. They figured the cyst had ruptured so by 11:30 am they took me into surgery. I was pretty drugged up Tuesday and Wednesday so everything just sort of went by a in a blur, but it turns out the indeed the cyst had ruptured and bled almost 2 Liters of blood into my abdominal cavity.
Wednesday night my mom flew in and stopped by the hospital for a few hours before having to go check into her room at the YMCA. Some of my friends also stopped by to visit and showed her the way there. They brought me lots of Jello too! :)
Thursday afternoon I got out of the hospital and returned to the Y to spend some time with my crew and friends, by now it had already been decided that I would fly home and meet up with my crew after I had some time to recover.
Friday morning I woke up and was pretty weak so my mom took me back into the hospital where I received a blood transfusion. It was amazing how much energy the blood gave me!
Friday evening I got back to the Y in time to be with my crew for the final blessing and I also got to meet an MC and a few directors for our camps. I had to say good-bye to my friends and "see ya later" to my crew as my mom and I were taking off for Denver. It was pretty emotional for me because these people had given me so much love, support, and prayers throughout the whole ordeal.
At one point one of my friends asked whether I was crying sad or happy tears and even though they felt pretty sad I replied with "happy," because I thought, what do I have to be sad about? Sure, I'm having to say good-bye to some amazing people, but I was also blessed enough to come to know and love them so well in less than 2 weeks that saying good-bye would bring me to tears.
I also have an incredible crew (shout out to 2b!) that I get to come back to. Had I been a crew manager for any other crew, I probably wouldn't be going back. That's because Melissa Hunter, who's the alternate for my position, is already on my crew. So they're letting her do the crew managing until I get back and they're still giving me my position back when I feel recovered enough to return. How amazing is that?
I also got to be home for my little sister's graduation. I may have been on the couch the whole time for her party, and asleep in my room for the ceremony, but I still got to be home for it. :)
Which reminds me... CONGRATULATIONS DANI!!!
Here she is with my parents after the ceremony
So yes, it's been a pretty rough couple of days, but I truly blessed and I know that I have the love of Christ to get me through just about anything.
