Many of my friends who have also spent a semester of their junior year abroad have blogs. It's the easiest way for us to stay a part of each other's lives without needing to set up skype dates (difficult when we're all in different time zones). So, much of my limited internet time these past few months has been reading my friends' blogs. I've placed links to many of them on the right side of my own blog and still haven't posted links to others as I can be lazy (Sorry Allison! It'll get there soon, I promise!) For the most part we use our blogs to keep our friends and family updated on our lives, and I try to write things that keep track of my life but also like to reflect in my blog. I've never been good with words so many times I write blogs reflecting on different things but never end up posting them as I rarely feel as though I have written truly what I feel. I just finished reading a blogpost by my friend and roommate Steph who is currently studying in Guatemala. She writes absolutely beautifully and her post, although I can not relate to the specific material of which she talks, describes the experience of actually living in a different culture rather than just visiting for a few weeks. I highly recommend reading this post which you can get to by clicking here!
As for me, I'm just enjoying a night of hostel life. Most of the people from the weekend are checked out so it's pretty quiet tonight but we've made friends with 2 Canadians, an Australian, and a Minnesotan and we enjoyed good conversation and a lot of laughs tonight over a bottle of champagne. After a full day of the beach, hiking, and a LOT of walking, we're ready for a good night's sleep. Tomorrow we head off to Cinque Terre along the northern coast in Italy!
