Valencia

Tomorrow is Father's Day here in Spain and apparently there's no school or work. We just found out at the beginning of last week so a few friends and I asked our professor if we could miss class Friday to go to Valencia. Since there's a big celebration currently going on in Valencia.. Las Fallas... she said yes, because it'll be a cultural experience. Las Fallas has been on the news constantly since this weekend and I'm getting really excited. Tonight after classes we're taking a bus to Madrid and our flight (yes, flight) takes off at 6:40 tomorrow morning. Think of this as flying from Minnesota to the east side of Wisconsin, or from the cities down to Chicago. It was 100 euros less to fly than bus or train.. imagine that!

Because it's such a big festival, booking a hostel was nearly impossible so we ended up in a hotel. It was a little bit more expensive but I'm excited because I'm pretty sure we have a hot tub :) Also, Valencia's on the Mediterranean cost and it's supposed to be beach whether while we're there. Have I mentioned yet how excited I am? Pictures to come upon my return.. no excuses, I promise. Especially since all day tomorrow they burn things... like giant dolls. Think of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on fire.
