It´s 5:57 pm on Tuesday. I finished class at 1:30 this afternoon. My last class until next Tuesday at 11:30 am. Tomorrow is some student holiday so nobody has class, I don´t have class on Thursday, and Friday morning we leave for Barcelona and come home Monday afternoon. It´s amazing, really.
I´m really excited for our trip to Barcelona. I was there in June of 2005 for a high school Spanish trip and absolutely loved it. It´s a beautiful city with amazing architecture. Gaudi´s La Sagrada Familia is in Barcelona. It´s a huge cathedral that´s still a work in progress but still big and beautiful.
Every day I´m here I like my host mom more and more. Especially every time I hear other students talking about theirs. Mine has 3 grown daughters and 17 year old granddaughter that spends a lot of time at her house so she´s used to having kids wanting to go out and be with friends. For this reason she doesn´t care how often I go out with my friends or how late I stay out. She always asks me how I´m doing, how my classes are and wants to talk to me. She pays attention to foods I like and don´t like and cooks around them but always gives me new things to try. It´s great.
We had a good first weekend in Segovia. Friday night I went out with the group and a few friends and I met some Spanish boys! They spoke English to us the whole night while we spoke Spanish to them. It was a lot of fun. Saturday I slept in and then had lunch with my host mom and her oldest granddaughter. Saturday evening a group of us walked to New Segovia to go to the Cinema. It was about an hour walk and we got there and 8 and bought tickets to Revolutionary Road at 10:30. We got some pizza and sat around talking until the movie which, even though dubbed over in Spanish, was incredible. We were a bit surprised, though, to find out it wasn´t the cute romantic flick we were expecting. On our walk home a group of about 5 Spanish students came around a corner not too far behind us and before we knew it a lighter had been thrown at us. Real cool.
I´ve been listening to Demetri Martin (my favorite comedian) via youtube while typing this post. I apologize if some of my paragraphs don´t make sense and everything seems a bit random, I´ve been more listening to Demetri than paying attention to what I´m typing. I think I´ll go focus on Demetri now. Hasta luego chicos!
