GRE

I finally signed up for it. I've been procrastinating my registration for way too long and I finally beat myself at my own game. I will be taking the GRE next Thursday at 1:30 pm.

As for studying... I think I've studied more than the average person does before taking the GRE. I'm still not happy with the results of my practice tests so I keep studying. For a few months now I've been using GRE flashcards... 500 common GRE words. I'd estimate that I've made it through about 400 or so of them. Many of the words I had never heard of before, but now I feel as though I'm finding the words everywhere! There's one word I keep rotating back through my pile because I can't, for the life of me, ever remember what it means. Eschew. I came across it today in my book and now I'm able to remember it. To shun; to avoid. I read Little Women earlier in the summer and I came across at least 50 to 75 GRE words. It's so great to come across the words in context and feel as though my hours spent studying them (mainly while on the eliptical sp?) was worth it.

Here are my top 3 favorite words:
curmudgeon - a cranky person, usually old; a bad-tempered, difficult, cantankerous person
pulchritude - physical beauty; comeliness
salubrious - favorable to or promoting health; healthful

As for the quantitative section of the GRE... I think I'll do better than I had originally thought. Everything's beginning to come back to me... triangles, simple algebra, statistics (which never had to come back to me being as I'm a psych major and I get to practice basic stats regularly).

Well, on to a practice quiz...

Update: I took a practice quiz and got about 10 more questions right than what I had been averaging. My self-esteem has been boosted.
