Barcelona and Summer in St. Joe

Here are a few of my pictures from Barcelona. Looking back on all of our excursions I didn't take as many pictures as I imagined. Barcelona really is a lot more beautiful than the pictures that follow.

A group of us girls before going out for the night.
Gaudi had a huge influence in Barcelona and the following are all from his Parque Güell. I don't have a picture of it but there's a huge mosaic wall around the top of the park.
The famous lizard

The last few weeks have gone by pretty fast. I headed to the cabin for the 4th and watching the fireworks over the lake was incredibly beautiful this year. They've always been fun to watch but for some reason this year they seemed even better than usual. I went out on the jetski with my sister's fiance and we were the first to ever fall off of it. What an honor. Todd's fall was completely my fault... I thought he was hanging on when I started out but he really wasn't. I turned around just in time to see him somersault backwards off the jetski. After I saw he was okay I couldn't stop laughing for quite some time. Later on we switched drivers and he threw me off hard enough for me to skip across the water on my back so he got me back. I went home to SC for an appt. Monday, back to school Monday night to see my roomies and then on to the cabin again Tuesday. My friend from GWF last summer was on her way to work a camp in Red Lake, MN with her crew and they stayed a night at our cabin. It was great to get to see her and get caught up on each other's lives since last August. My crew worked the Red Lake camp last summer which you can read a little bit about from this old post... http://alyssarosewater.blogspot.com/2008/07/old-favorites.html
After they left for their set-up hotel in Bemidji I returned to campus for the evening. On Thursday I babysat from 10 am to 12:30 am. I forget how tiring the job is! However, the kids I was watching are great and the day went by pretty fast. I think the only thing my body is no longer used is eating the kid-friendly food for both meals. Mac-n-cheese for lunch and chicken nuggets and potato smiles for supper. When I got home that night I wasn't feeling well and couldn't sleep. I went to the bathroom and ended up seeing the chicken nuggets come back up again. After that I slept perfectly. Strange.
I've had a pretty relaxed weekend. Sometime after midnight Friday night there was a knock on the apartment door and my friend and I paused "The Office" to open the door and find a group of our friends dressed crazy and heading out on a silent adventure. (Don't ask, I don't know). We joined them for a while and it ended up being a journey to find a well-lit place to throw the frisbee around. We succeeded along with being followed by the Life Safety vehicle. They wouldn't leave us alone. They passed by us we were walking at least 4 or 5 times and then after we found our spot they camped out on a road nearby. Seriously, we were just throwing a frisbee!
I made banana bread Saturday morning and also got to visit with Marita, my neighbor in Spain who came up for the weekend. In the afternoon my friend Dave (who was also in Spain with me) came up to visit. We went to the beach at SJU and were joined by our friend Andrew/"Sunshine" who we both went to Gautemala with. In all the day was filled with a lot of reminiscing of abroad travels.
I finished the weekend off with a daytrip to the cabin with 2 friends to enjoy the beautiful sunshine! I'm looking forward to a normal week, followed by a big family weekend at the cabin and then picking my host sister from Spain up at the airport Monday evening! She'll be here for 3 1/2 weeks and I'm VERY excited!
