So we found something better...
This is a picture that I feel captures Melissa's essence.
And finally, the graphic tees that we all feel were an excellent $7.50 purchase. We tried to pick ones to match our personalities. Mine represents my fear of having my ribs touched. Also, this is the day my crew first began to sing "one of these things is not like the other" to me. Haha, very funny.
I promise...more will come when I return home for the summer. We're now a little more than 36 hours from camper arrival. AH! We ran into a bit of an ice crisis today when we discovered our bags of ice for the week had not been ordered. Try ordering 675 bags of ice at 3:30 on a Friday in northern MN. After about an hour of phone calls I resorted to my angel, Melissa, who was already in Bemidji with our directory, Doug, and they drove to the ice vendor. It was closed up, which we figured it would be. However, as they were searching the open ice chest for a piece of paper an ice truck pulled up. I'm sure he saw the situation for something worse than it was, but ended up calling his boss for help and he found our account and we now have 675 bags of ice showing up on Sunday afternoon!!!!!!!
We are somewhat close to having the school ready for campers to arrive after having to move our office from the main office into the spiritual room. The spiritual room is incredible but it makes me nervouse because they're very strict about food and beverages being in there. To the point that I got scared to chew my bubble gum. Being on the reservation is and I'm sure will be a great experience. There's a lot to learn and I'm excited to be able to get out and meet some of our residents on Tuesday afternoon. As most of you probably know, Red Lake High School had a shooting back in March of 2005 where there were 10 tragedies and then the shooter took his own life. I was a little nervouse coming into the school and not knowing how sensitive the issue was. However, many of the staff have brought it up and told us about it without us even inquiring. They're very open about what happened and the middle school principal and high school office secretary have pointed out the parts of the school where the shootings took place. There has been, of course, some remodeling since the shooting and the school is absolutely beautiful. There are paintings everywhere. I'm excited to see camper reactions when they walk into the school.
I have one last thing to add before I head to bed. Brandon, Laura, and I took our director geo-caching tonight. I can't remember if I've brought it up on here before but to learn more just google the term. It's quite fascinating really. We went to two spots tonight and I have both video and photographic footage. I can get a picture up, hopefully soon, of the cach spot for children (pirate outfit included) and will be posting videos upon my arrival back home.
God Bless
