Life's Little Randoms

My friend from this summer called me yesterday... somewhere near the beginning of the conversation he began with, "I had a nightmare about your profile picture last night." (My profile picture being the one of me from 1952). What a friend :) We had a great conversation and the whole while I baked a loaf of banana bread and made spaghetti for supper...apparently I'm improving at the whole multi-tasking deal.

A lot has happened recently. My apartment had a 6 week old kitten that was rescued by our brave Erik (Steph's boyfriend) just as it was about to run out on the interstate. They named him "Pax" which is Latin for "peace" since Erik found him on his way to a peace vigil. He's the most playful kitten I've ever met. When we first got him he couldn't bare to be alone so he chased you everywhere and when you stood still he would walk over your feet. He also did a good amount of sleeping. We'd be playing with him and then leave him to run around crazy on his own only to find him completely passed out the next minute. He was quite the stress reliever for the few days we had him and it was sad to see him go, but thankfully we no longer have the smell of his litter box in our apartment.

Our intramural soccer and softball games have been going well. I haven't been to many soccer games lately because they've been overlapping with softball. Tonight I can't go to either because not only do they overlap each other but also with my VISTO swimming. We've only lost one game in softball to so far and it was to a team of seniors so that's okay. It was actually a pretty exciting game. The team was good enough that they could aim when they were at bat so quite a few balls came to me in right field since I'm sure it was apparent from the beginning of the game that I was the team's weakness.

On Friday night Abby and I had over our friends we went to Guatemala with for a potluck supper and a few rounds of Bananagrams. Supper was delicious...we even had snicker salad! I'm still working on washing the dishes. I've done 3 loads so far and just have one more to go. However, my own dishes have now been piling up on top of those so it'll probably be 2 loads by the time I get around to doing them.

Here's a portion of the Guat group playing bananagrams. There's 14 of us total but a two are currently abroad and a few couldn't make it.

Also, I think I've finally made the decision to find a job in Minnesota next summer instead of going back to GWF. I loved my summer working for them and perhaps summer of 2010 I'll go back but I think I want to be around next summer for a variety of reasons. I'm looking into possible jobs and would like to live on campus and hopefully do research with a psych prof, but we'll see. It's going to be hard to find a summer job while I'm abroad so I'm hoping to have something at least somewhat lined up before I go. I'm also beginning to work on applying for an internship in the high school guidance counseling area for my senior year. I really hope it works out because I think it'd be good for helping me decide if that's what I want to go into.

This week is our fall break so as of Wednesday I'll be going home for a few days! I think I'll spend a few days at home and then head up to the cabin to spend a day or two in the peace and quiet trying to get caught up on some homework and projects!
