Hello from PA

I'm writing to your from Spring Grove, PA where we're finishing up our last day of workcamp. I'm running on very little sleep and while I'm excited to get caught up on that, I'm a little sad that camp is coming to an end. I only met the other summer staff on Wednesday afternoon (the 7th) but it feels like we've been together all summer just like every other crew. We met our director on Friday (the 9th) and even then he couldn't believe we had known each other for 2 days. We've been having nothing but fun. While there has been a bit of stress this week, some excitement here and there, and a few surprises, this has by far been the best camp I've ever worked. The school we're staying in is 2 years old and beautiful. We have our staff meetings in a glass room above the entrance where we can watch over all the campers and the cafeteria can seat more than the 400 campers we have. The staff are sleeping in the music wing of the building and they have 4 practice rooms which make great summer staff bedrooms :) I've gotten 3 naps in this week which is WONDERFUL!
Every night the program has been amazing and the campers are the best group I've seen. They get excited about everything and I've hardly heard any complaints. This is the first camp I haven't had adults that cause problems, and the community, our local cosponsor, and the entire school staff and administration have been beyond wonderful. They welcomed us with open arms, made sure we had everything we needed and more, and keep asking when we're coming back next. 2 news stations have come and done stories on us and multiple newspapers. Nobody here has been anything less than fabulously supportive.
Our red shirt staff even has been incredible. I work with the 2 cafeteria volunteers who assist the cooking staff with serving meals, and I call them my cafeteria dream team. I really don't have to do anything in the cafeteria because they take care of ALL of it. Yesterday and today they both went out to sites to help out the crews who are behind despite the extreme heat! I couldn't be more blessed by their presence here!
While I'm sad to leave the camp, I think what's the most bittersweet for me is having to leave my crew after only one camp. I want to leave Saturday and travel to another camp with them. Heck, I want the whole summer with them!
